Friday, April 15, 2010. NYC. I attend my one and only Tea Party. Underneath my doctor’s lab coat and sport shirt, I am wearing a “T” shirt I dreamed up and created:

While waiting for the speeches to begin, I open a few shirt buttons to show my homespun creation to one of the Tea Party organizers - a lanky black male over 6 feet tall. He looks at the heading on my fictitious Letterhead (“Dr. FreeMan”).
It reads, “A Mind is a Terrible Thing to Waste.”
We look one other in the eye for a good few seconds, each nodding at the other, and smiling faintly. No words are spoken. We KNOW we both ‘get it.’
