Take Back Medicine Reading Room

H.R. 3962 - READING ROOM

We know that most Members of Congress won’t read the bill,

but our doctors did!

This week we had doctors across the U.S.A. reading the bill and posting their comments about it.

Also, we held a LIVE reading room in Washington, DC.

Thank you to our physicians who not only take care of our medical needs, but are taking the time out of their busy schedules to help find out what this bill is really about.

Basically, this bill HR 3962, is worse than the first-HR3200. It will increase costs immensely, and bring the economy of the US to its knees. The quality of care will substantially decrease, as committees decide "who" will receive life-saving treatment due to budget constraints and "who" will not. The government has no business mandating standards for health to doctors, as they are not medical professionals, they are merely elected or appointed politicians generally. Doctors should not be forced to perform abortions, and taxpayers should not fill that bill. Illegal aliens are offered more protections by Obama now than ever before-hindering law enforcement officers. Why should we have to pay for illegal aliens health care? Do they pay income taxes? Who is the federal government to tell us how to take care of our health? This is totally unconstitutional bill. And do you think if this passes, it will apply to our federal government employees/congress? Think again. This government option is to out compete the private sector with its immense bargaining power as another step toward socialist medicine. Ask anyone who is sick in a socialized medicine country why they come to the US for medical care???

WHERE IN THE CONSTITUTION DOES IT SAY THAT OUR GOVERNMENT MAY BE ALLOW TO DICTATE HOW OUR
HEALTH CARE IS ESTABLISHED !
THIS IS ANOTHER WAY OUR GOVERNMENT IS TAKING
OUR FREEDOMS FROM US...WAKE UP!

LIMITATIONS ON HEALTH CARE RELATED EXPENDITURES
Sec. 531. Distributions for medicine qualified only if for prescribed drug or insulin.
Sec. 532. Limitation on health flexible spending arrangements under cafeteria
plans.
Sec. 533. Increase in penalty for nonqualified distributions from health savings
accounts.
Sec. 534. Denial of deduction for federal subsidies for prescription drug plans
which have been excluded from gross income.

GOVERNMENT CAN NOT MAKE ANYTHING RUN RIGHT. I just have to wonder who Pelosi's doctor and psychiatrist are? And who is Reid's doctor...
(mortician?), hard to tell.

After reading this so called bill, I don't feel so good so better see my doctor while I still can.

I DON'T LIKE ANYTHING ABOUT THIS HEALTH CARE BILL. IT DOES NOTHING FOR THE PEOPLE, EXCEPT PROMOTE SOCIALISM AND TAKE AWAY ALL OUR RIGHTS TO CHOOSE. IF THIS ADMINISTRATION IS SO HELL BENT ON CHANGING THE HEALTH CARE THEY SHOULD LOOK AT THE WAY KAISER PERMANANETE RUNS THEIR HEALTH CARE HOSPITALS AND CLINICS, IT'S BETTER THAN THE PURPOSED GOVERNMENT PLAN.

November 4, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterANNE

This Bill is very OB unfriendly. First, there's essentially nothing meaningful on tort reform. Second, Midwives will now be paid the same as Board-Certified Obstetricians.

FInally, this bill is not a healthcare bill. With over 100 new bureaucracies, this bill is a jobs program for federal patronage! The PelosiPalooza must be defeated. This isn't healthcare reform. This is a hostile takeover.

I am a pharmacy technician for Group Health in the Seattle area. my employer endorces this bill, but I see NOTHING in it that will benefit them! what we do need is change things so everyones health care looks more like group health. but this should be done at the company level. the government isn't qualifed to do this. also there shouldn't be a requirement for EVERYONE to be covered as there ARE people who have no need for insurance due to idological/religious reasons.

November 4, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterkatbird_27

Accountable Care Organizations in section 1301 are models where the HHS Secretary will make incentive payments to those groups of doctors who come in under the target spending level for Medicare beneficiaries. Doesn't this interfere with the patient-doctor relationship? Doctors shouldn't be encouraged to cut costs like this for senior citizens!

November 4, 2009 | Unregistered Commenteralex

There is not TRUST in the eletists in our Congress and Senate and Whitehouse. We don't trust them with anything anymore let alone the most personal aspect of our lives. These actions are Unconstitutional and frankly should be considered Treason. From Public Education to Public Housing and every thing in between, This is not Free Market Capitalistic behvior and why can't we stop it?

November 4, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterDianne Peyton

why dosen't ,congress spend the billons,on correcting present health fraud in medicare, medicade. create 1,500 pages of rules regulations to fix our present system or give citizen a fair average amount on their income tax return ,to choose their own health provider or toward medicare supplment. this will be taxation with representation ! r.v.

What a bunch of gobblidygook! Depending on who you are, you can make the bill read in favor of what you want to do. This bill will bankrupt the country! Thank goodness, I'm a well-aged senior, and if this bill passes, I may pass before it is ever implemented. But I fear for my children and mostly my grandchildren. What will life be like for them as they age?

November 4, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterH. Hawkins

This is just a socialized government healthcare takeover. Obama said hisself that he before he started healtcare reform he talked to Andy Stern, leader of SEIU, a marxist. Why is Obama talking to left-wing radicals to put our healthcare bill together.Obama and his far-left congress members, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are trying to ram this down our throats because they want to lead us universal healthcare and turn this country to a socialized nation. We must stand together and make it plain that like our forefathers we will not give up our freedom. Govenment is suppose to watch after us not control us. This administraiton should be questioned for their abuse of power. It is unconstituional to force taxes and try and make us purchase something we do not want. Reagan said it best when he said govenment is not suppose to run our lives and to do that they would have to do it with force and power. This government is doing what Soros said if they will not do it with the power of persuasion then we persuade them with power which this adminsitraiton is doing with Chicago like thug and bully tactics. Obama is trying to bully America not govern. This is a dictatorship approach. and is abusing his positition and the White House. We must stand together and loudly say NO to this bill.

I DON'T THINK IT'S FAIR THAT NANCY P. AND OTHER GOVERNMENT PEOPLE DON'T HAVE TO GET THIS HEALTH CARE. PLAN. IF IT IS SO GOOD LIKE THEY SAY, WHY DON'T THEY WANT IT? LOOKING AT MOST OF CONGRESS I SEE WHY THEY DON'T WANT IT, BECAUSE MOST OF THEM ARE OLDER PEOPLE, AND THEY DON'T WANT TO BE RATIONED LIKE THE REST OF US.
I HEARD THAT THEY THINK GETTING 50% PAID ON PRESC. IS A GOOD THING. I KNOW SOME PEOPLE NEED COVERAGE FOR PRESC., BUT I HAVE GREAT COVERAGE ON PRESC. ! WE DON'T WANT THEIR HEALTH CARE! THE COST IS TERRIBLE.

November 5, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterDavid

This is not about health care, it is about CONTROL. Obama and his marxist gang want to control all that Americans do, how they lead their lives. The best way to control is by control of the health care system. If the government controls your health, they can control the way you vote, thus retaining power. Hasn't Obama done something for which he can be impeached? I forget, they control the Congress now...but maybe not after the 2020 elections.

Section 2531 deals with liability reform, or more precisely uses the coercive power of federal funds to prevent states form enacting any meaningful reform. It can be found at <http://thomas.loc.gov/>

A major sop to the trial bar- incredibly hypocritical given California, Ms. Pelosi's home state, has had MICRA for 35 years with great degree of success. Unlike FL where an OB-GYN may pay $200K for liability insurance, in CA the cost is $28K. This increases access, while the only limitation on recovery is a $250K cap on pain and suffering. Read the section copied below.

So here's my suggestion: link the lost savings which could be gained by enacting "common sense" tort reform to the cuts planned for Medicare under the bill.

By that I mean, IF they enacted nationwide reform similar to that in CA (or TX for that matter), the savings to the federal system would range from $5B to $200B annually (CBO estimate - Kessler and McCllelan), enough to obviate the need for the planned Medicare cuts of $50B/annually

Ask Democratic leadership to explain, on camera, why they feel it more important to protect lawyer's contingency fees than funding for the Medicare program? This is the sleaziest most indefensible aspect of the entire plan. I imagine Seniors may have some interest in thir response.

BNK
SEC. 2531. MEDICAL LIABILITY ALTERNATIVES.

(a) Incentive Payments for Medical Liability Reform-

(4) CONTENTS OF ALTERNATIVE MEDICAL LIABILITY LAW- The contents of an alternative liability law are in accordance with this paragraph if--

(A) the litigation alternatives contained in the law consist of certificate of merit, early offer, or both; and

(B) the law does not limit attorneys' fees or impose caps on damages.

Our only hope is we can elect real Americans to Congress in 2010 who will repeal all this nonsense before it it can do irreperable harm.

November 6, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterconcerned citizen

This corrupt government now owns 30% of all private wealth of America. Last year it was 19%. Now they want to take over our health care which is one-sixth of our economy. These people like pelosi and the rest want to own and control every aspect of our lives. We will no longer be citizens of America but subjects of obama. Our Constitution has been destroyed along with our rights and freedoms.

Groups like acorn, seiu, the appollo alliance are going to help obama rule. People our country as we know and love it is being destroyed.

This government-run health care plan will be the biggest snatch of freedom and liberty in the history of America.

November 7, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterEmily Keen

There is nothing wrong with our medical system except the areas that have been controlled by government. They have not handled it properly and used Medicare to rob Peter to Pay Paul for years. Now they want control of our other medical plans to pay back their mistakes at our expense. I think our Doctors are doing a great job and our care is the best in the world, but if Government takes control , our quality of life will be lost. They need to clean up their own mess first. They are not qualified to know and understand the Medical business. I , as a senior , am in fear of my health in the future if this is passed. Until now Doctors have kept me in fit shape and guided me in preventative care and allowed me to lead a quality life. Our Medical Professional should have the say with support of their patients. GOVERNMENT HAS NO BUSINESS IN MAKING DECISIONS ABOUT MY PERSONAL HEALTH, NONE OF THEM HAVE STUDIED OR PRACTICED MEDICINE AND THEY CERTAINLY DON'T HAVE MY TRUST TO MANAGE CARE OF MY LIFE!

November 7, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterMarilyn

i read the bill and as a medical doctor,am ashamed of all the faceless people behind this lies,it is the greedy people who are increasing the premium-only the mediocre doctor are scared-all other field have standard of operation like the ISO9000 series why not medical practice-when i was in med school ,we use to talk about OPEN and CLOSE(unnecessary)surgery to get more money-my ethos did not let me do that

My biggest regret is that my children will grow up in a country I don't recognize. The American Dream used to be based on education, hard work and entrepreneurialism. Now it's based on handouts, the lottery and jackpot justice. Excellence is punished, mediocrity is rewarded. So sad.
