STATE LAWMAKERS LEFT OUT OF
THE LOOP ON HEALTHCARE REFORM....
State legislators will tell how Congress has ignored their concerns about federal healthcare bills, and their fears that JOBS & state budgets will take the biggest impact of increased costs. ALSO: Is the public plan really dead?
Special guests:
Sen. Judson Hill (GA)
Rep. Pearl Burris-Floyd (NC)
Rep. Gary MacLaren (MT)
State legislators (and budgets) have been ignored in the Congressional debate over healthcare reform. But that's where we'll take the biggest hit as the Feds ramp up unfunded mandates for Medicaid and other state programs.
Some legislators tell us they can't even get their Senators to take their calls!
We'll talk about those issues, the impact on JOBS and loss of state revenues with a distinguished panel of state legislators.
We'll also hear from regular Jennifer Hulsey with a report on grassroots activities, and a summary of the next steps in the Senate -- IS THE PUBLIC PLAN REALLY DEAD?

nullify - (nul' i fy) - To deprive something of its effectiveness, to render a law invalid.
nullification - (nul i fi ca' tion) - The act of depriving something of its effectiveness, the act of rendering a law invalid, as in Jury Nullification, the means by which a jury refuses to convict under what it considers to be an unjust law.

If this legislation is passed by Congress and signed into law, the game is not over.
You can act to prevent it from coming to your state.
You and your fellow citizens can use the process of nullification to invalidate it in your state. If enough states invalidate it, it will become invalid nationwide.
"When a state nullifies a federal law, it is proclaiming that the law in question is void and inoperative, or non-effective within the boundaries of that state or, in other words, not a law as far as the state is concerned."

Residents of Arizona will vote in 2010 on a proposal to opt out of national health insurance. The legislature in my state, Georgia, as well as those of Florida, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Missouri, is considering similar legislation.
Our nation has a long history of using nullification to invalidate federal law. State governments used it with great success to invalidate the Real ID Act, a federally mandated national ID program which became law in 2005. Montana and Tennessee have used nullification to declare federal gun laws invalid in their states.
You have the power to change the future for your children and grandchildren.
