Medical Students Consider Practicing in Dubai!

Kyle Varner So, you think doctors are in favor of the Democrat’s health care plan? Think medical students love the idea? Think again! Today I overheard discussion among some of my colleagues about what they’ll do if Obamacare passes: They’ll practice medicine in Dubai!
It isn’t far-fetched at all. Dubai and Saudi Arabia are actively recruiting American physicians, and they offer a pretty sweet compensation package
Tax-Free Salary that exceeds US Salaries when taxes are taken into account
Free Housing with Utilities Paid
Free transportation
40 to 50 days per year of vacation
44-48 hours per week (for a doctor, these hours seem like you’re on vacation!)
Free tuition for children to attend private schools
Annual trip back home for free
There are already lots of very qualified US physicians practicing in the middle east. Here are some examples:
Dr. Abdullah Riar, Board Certified in Internal Medicine:
Dr. Nader Salti, Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery and Fellow of the American Board of Surgeons
Dr. Sala Abubakr, Board Certified in Internal Medicine
Dr. Shah Numani, Board Certified in Nuclear Medicine
Dr. Wakim Wakim, Board Certified in Internal Medicine
Dr. Yasser Nakhlawi, Board Certified in Internal Medicine
These are just a few examples of highly qualified, board certified American Physicians. We’ve lost their services because it is more beneficial for them to practice in Dubai than it is to practice in the United States.
Now, Obamacare has medical students discussing Dubai as a viable option! Something is wrong here. Very wrong! America has a dreadful physician shortage, and highly qualified physicians are leaving. Do we really want to chase away more doctors?
How can Obamacare improve access to care by making it even less attractive to practice medicine in the United States?
If you have any doubt about what I’m saying, just do a google search for Physician Jobs overseas. You’ll find attractive compensation for American physicians being offered all over the world. If we want health care in America to improve rather than deteriorate, we’d better stop chasing doctors away!
