April 15, 2010 - Doctors Needed for NYC Tea Party
Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at 8:12AM Even if you are not able to be in Manhattan next week please forward this information to colleagues or friends who might be able to attend!
Following is an important message about this event from AAPS member Richard Mackool, MD.
Dear Doctor,
We have been in communication with David Webb, the organizer of the New York City Tea Party event on April 15th. A Tea party official will meet with us at 6:30 p.m. at the southwest corner of 31st Street & 8th Avenue which is near the stage. THE MDs WEARING WHITE LAB COATS will be escorted to a prominent location (near the stage and media representatives). Please remember to BRING a white lab coat.
If you arrive after 6:30 p.m, follow the same instructions as above and you will be escorted to our location.
It is anticipated that media coverage of the event will reach 5 million viewers. Of course, the greater the number of physicians, the greater the impact. Please forward this information to other physicians who may be interested. Remember, voters really haven't heard from practicing physicians and our presence is certain to attract attention to the fact that the vast majority of physicians are opposed to government intrusion into the medical profession. We know that patients are best served when decisions regarding their care are made by them and their physicians and certainly not by politicians and their appointees.
Please note that there will be no politicians or political candidates speaking at the event.
Sincerely,
Dick Mackool

Dr. Mackool - It was a pleasure meeting you and a number of other physicians in NYC on April 15. It was heartening to see that there ARE those who care enough to take a little of their time to show support for the Tea Party, our Profession, and our COUNTRY. On the other hand, I was greatly disappointed (but not too surprised) to see so few physicians present at the NYC Tea Party, esp. considering the population density of the NY Metro area.. As you may know, I traveled from Az. to be there. I am happy I made the trip - but Doctors need to SHOW UP so as to generate a MASS EFFECT or the Public and Congress won't take notice. You ('No Show' docs) have NO CREDIBILITY otherwise. One or two spokespersons won't matter UNLESS YOU STAND UP TO BE COUNTED.
