Senate bill cannot be fixed if House votes for it
Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at 10:02AM Any House member who votes for the Senate bill, based on promises of later “fixes,” is virtually certain to be voting for federal funding of abortion.
American Catholic bishops are being kept at the negotiating table with pledges to enact abortion protections as separate legislation amending the Senate bill after it is passed. A vote for the Senate bill now, they say, is just a way “to keep the process moving.”
The pledges, however, are written in disappearing ink, if written at all. Abortion provisions are not likely to pass muster as budget measures, and hence can’t be passed with a mere 51 votes as part of reconciliation. The Senate does not have 60 pro-life votes to stop a filibuster against anti-abortion legislation.
The National Right to Life Committee issued a strong statement saying that:
When all of the pro-abortion provisions are considered in total, the Senate bill is the most pro-abortion single piece of legislation that has ever come to the House floor for a vote, since Roe v. Wade. Any House member who votes for the Senate health bill is casting a career-defining pro-abortion vote. A House member who votes for the Senate bill would forfeit a plausible claim to pro-life credentials. No House member who votes for the Senate bill will be regarded, in the future, as having a record against federal funding of abortion . . .
Given these political realities, all House members who vote for the Senate bill would become accessories to the sin of abortion, according to Catholic theology. Or they would become enablers, according to medical/psychologic terminology.
Chicago-style politics is in high gear to accomplish Obama’s goals. Methods include promising Members a safe harbor if they get voted out of office. Or there are threats, such as an “ethics” investigation for “verbally abusing” a staff member, say by raising one’s voice or saying a bad word. Other promises mentioned in the blogosphere include making a pesky FBI investigation go away, or getting a favorable real estate deal, or landing a federal judgeship for a family member.
Those are the types of promises that today’s Leaders can be trusted to keep.

The House health bill is an abortion. The Senate bill is also an abortion. Put the two together and compromise and the result is still an abortion. Obamacare is not about health. it is about control of we the people and control of another 16% of our economy. Obama is a narcsissist and is power hungry. Obama is proving that POWER is an acronym-------------
Piss On Whom Ever Resists. He wants to control us frrom the cradle to the grave. We will save this nation only by Conservatives taking the House and the Senate away fom the Progressive idiots that control them now. Obama MUST be made a one term President. IIt will take a decade to undo the damage this administration has done to this once vibrant and proud nation.
The only way to fix what's wrong here is to cleanse the Congress: vote them all out, especially Reid and Pelosi. They really have to be shown the door. The American people have spoken clealry and these two morons don't understand the word "NO". How 'bout it, prince & princess? Why don't you two listen? It's clear to me you hate this country. Why don't you pack up and move someplace else......

This Healthcare bill is unprecedented, in a bad way. Arguably the federal government has a Constitutional right to PROVIDE for the general welfare (ie. Healthcare) under the original articles - that could be debated with some legitimate basis. However, the federal government has no right to mandate a damn thing in this regard. The Healthcare bill is Constitutionally unsound; un-Constitutional.
In addition, there is a law in affect that bans federally funded abortion, how absurd is this behavior in our nations capital where the legislature passes laws that contradict current law? This has got to stop!
I've volumes to comment but will end here with the thought that this will only lead to less control in ways yet unimagined by most. We're losing control of our very bodies with this legislation. Slippery slope and all, the government will soon be mandating how often we get our bodies checked by doctors, in what way we get checked, and what will be injected at each visit.
Stand up for your rights or we'll have to dispose of the current government as we did the British rule which oppressed us such a short time ago! Be strong, fight!
