1) According to Representative Tom Price, M.D., the Democrats that need to be targeted are the 37 Democrats who voted "No" last year and 31 others who voted "Yes" but are still considered undecided or are particularly vulnerable this time around.  Dr. Price recommends visiting http://www.nrcc.org/CodeRed/targets/ for a list of these targeted members including links to obtain their contact information.  
Tell them to "VOTE NO."
(39 Democrats voted "No" last year, however Rep. Massa has resigned and Rep. Griffith changed parties and is now a Republican.) 

2) The Hill has published a list (CLICK HERE TO VIEW) of 24 Democrats who are a "Firm No, Leaning No, or Likely No" and 80 who are "Undecided."  Please thank the "No" votes for making the right decision and tell the undecideds to do the right thing and "vote NO."

American Catholic bishops are being kept at the negotiating table with pledges to enact abortion protections as separate legislation amending the Senate bill after it is passed. A vote for the Senate bill now, they say, is just a way “to keep the process moving.”

The pledges, however, are written in disappearing ink, if written at all.  Abortion provisions are not likely to pass muster as budget measures, and hence can’t be passed with a mere 51 votes as part of reconciliation. The Senate does not have 60 pro-life votes to stop a filibuster against anti-abortion legislation.

The National Right to Life Committee issued a strong statement saying that:

When all of the pro-abortion provisions are considered in total, the Senate bill is the most pro-abortion single piece of legislation that has ever come to the House floor for a vote, since Roe v. Wade. Any House member who votes for the Senate health bill is casting a career-defining pro-abortion vote. A House member who votes for the Senate bill would forfeit a plausible claim to pro-life credentials. No House member who votes for the Senate bill will be regarded, in the future, as having a record against federal funding of abortion . . .

Given these political realities, all House members who vote for the Senate bill would become accessories to the sin of abortion, according to Catholic theology. Or they would become enablers, according to medical/psychologic terminology.

Chicago-style politics is in high gear to accomplish Obama’s goals. Methods include promising Members a safe harbor if they get voted out of office. Or there are threats, such as an “ethics” investigation for “verbally abusing” a staff member, say by raising one’s voice or saying a bad word. Other promises mentioned in the blogosphere include making a pesky FBI investigation go away, or getting a favorable real estate deal, or landing a federal judgeship for a family member.

Those are the types of promises that today’s Leaders can be trusted to keep.

According to our D.C. intelligence, the House would be in session this evening voting on the Senate-passed “healthcare reform” bill—if Speaker Pelosi had the votes.

She is likely to call the roll immediately if she gets them, so as to not allow time for introspection or reconsideration. The  Leadership does not want Congress to go home for Easter break without having it “done”—lest wavering congressmen get exposed to their constituents.

According to the latest CNN poll, only 25% of Americans favor current legislation; 73% want Congress to stop, or start over.

Today, Obama gave another talk, repeating his mischaracterizations of the bill, asserting Americans could keep their current plan, and that costs would decrease. In fact, within 5 years, all plans would be defunct if they weren’t approved by the federal Health Choices Commissioner. The Congressional Budget Office finds that premiums would increase.

While Obama claimed that Republican ideas had been “incorporated,” Rep. Michael Burgess, M.D., pointed out that Republican amendments that had been passed in committee all got stripped out of the final bill, without explanation. The only Republican ideas from the Feb 25 summit that Obama liked were very weak: putting a few more dollars, amounting to “budget dust,” into pilot programs on tort reform, and Sen. Tom Coburn’s idea of deploying undercover investigators to find Medicare fraud.

According to an Associated Press survey, 10 Democrats have not ruled out switching their ‘no’ votes to ‘yes’ on Obama’s plan. They are:

Last week on Super Bowl Sunday, President Obama, made an announcement on national TV that he would be inviting both the Republican and Democrat leadership to the Blair House in the next several weeks in an effort to work on a bipartisan solution for health care reform.  The President promised that these negotiations would be televised.  While citizens across the country have been calling for transparent negotiations for months, there is much concern that this is a “dog and pony show” being sponsored by the White House, and there will be no real bipartisan negotiations.  The fear is that the President, Madame Pelosi, and Senator Reid are only going to work with the bills that have already been passed by the House and the Senate.

The American people do not want the legislation that has been proposed by either of these bodies.  The American people want to start from the beginning with a blank sheet of paper.  Representative Tom Price (GA) asked to start with a blank sheet of paper earlier this week.  Leader John Boehner (OH) issued a statement asking for the same thing.  Will the President and his team of negotiators agree to start with a blank sheet of paper?  According to Madame Pelosi’s senior health care advisor, this is not the plan at all.  In fact, the Republicans and the American people are being set up and this “dog and pony” show is a trap!

This past week, Senator Judd Gregg (R-NH) appeared on Fox News and talked about his personal “CPR” plan that he is proposing.  The basis of the plan is a mandate for anyone over 18 years of age to have insurance. Where has Senator Gregg been the past several months?  Does he have a sweetheart lobbying job awaiting him when he completes his term? Why on earth would this Senator not stand up and represent what the American people want?  Does he not know that 61% of the American people want Congress to completely start over on health care negotiations?

It appears that Washington, DC is just not getting the message!  This health care summit is nothing more than a PR stunt! What is so scary is that there are some that are falling for this stunt.  It is up to us, “We the People,” to once again, raise our voices, turn up the heat, and just say no to this stunt that is being attempted by the President and his team.  It is time for the President, Madame Pelosi, and Senator Reid to know that you cannot fool “We the People” anymore.

Are you willing to step back up to the plate and turn on the heat again? This past Tuesday, Organizing for America announced (via email) that they have relaunched their Action Center in an effort to assist with the government takeover of health care.  Just this morning, Organizing for America announced that their supporters have already pledged 4,000,000 hours of their time to assist in getting “real” health care reform passed.

Team, are you up for a challenge? We must work just as hard, if not harder, to stop this government takeover of health care!  If you are willing to stand shoulder to shoulder with the rest of us, you can do the following to stop this government takeover of health care:

1. Sign the Petition demanding that the Republicans stand firm and not make any concessions.  Please forward to family, colleagues, neighbors, and friends to sign.  There is power in numbers and we all need to stand strong together.

2. Contact the Senators listed at the bottom of this email to let them know that you expect them to stand firm and not make any concessions on a government takeover of health care. If you are not their constituent, you should tell them that their vote represents the American people, as well as their constituents, and you expect them to listen to and represent the American people.

3. Contact the Republican Leadership and let them know that we are watching and waiting.  We expect every single member of the Republican party to stand on principles and values, while representing the American people.

The Republican Leadership in the House is committed to stand firm and wants to start from scratch.  We need to support their efforts and let them know we are standing behind them.  We should thank them for listening to the American people.

We all thought this this health care legislation was dead after the election of Scott Brown in Massachusetts because he was the 41st vote.  Well, not so fast.  He is the 41st vote only if all of the other Republicans in Washington stand firm and do not cave or make any concessions.

We must make it clear to ALL of our elected officials that we want NO part of the Senate or House bills to be proposed or accepted.  The American people want these bills rejected and to start over with a clean slate. We will accept nothing less.

This is a critical time!  We have been so successful in stopping this legislation.  We must continue to stand strong and have our voices heard.  Your fellow Patriots are counting on you to stand with us now.  We must not be weak, but stringer than ever before.

The bill should be killed.

There are two more chances to kill the healthcare bill in the Senate tomorrow, so more action is needed.

First, there will be a vote on the constitutionality

Second, will be the final cloture vote around 2 pm before proceeding to the final vote on the bill, which is now scheduled for 8 am Christmas Eve.  Votes needed for cloture are 60.  Today, Sen. Barrasso, M.D. (R-WY) talked about John F. Kennedy’s book, “Profiles in Courage” and said that we need one Democrat to exhibit courage and stand up and say that this is a bad bill, and that these sweetheart deals are unfair.  Maybe we can convince Ben Nelson (D-NE) to go back to his previous courageous stand against the bill.

TWO ACTIONS BEFORE WED NOON EST:

1. Write a letter to Sen. Ben Nelson expressing your position on his flip-flop.  If you intend to help any opponent he may have in his re-election, you might mention that in your letter.

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE TO DESPISE
Two big announcements from groups on the left today grabbed our attention.

The self-acknowledged government single-payer doctors from Physicians for a National Health Plan wrote to Senators:

"We have concluded that the Senate bill's passage would bring more harm than good."

The negatives, the group says, “include the individual mandate requiring that people buy private insurance policies, large government subsidies to private insurers, the unfair taxing of high-cost health plans, and cuts of $43 billion in Medicare payments to safety-net hospitals.”

And MoveOn.org put out a list of “5 Critical Flaws in the Senate Healthcare Bill” including: #4: Tax American workers' health coverage to pay for reform.

CONSTITUTIONALITY
Senators Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina) and John Ensign (R-Nevada), raised a Constitutional Point of Order on the Senate floor against the Democrat health care takeover bill on behalf of the Steering Committee, a caucus of conservative senators. The Senate will vote tomorrow on the bill’s constitutionality.

Further, during our “Virtual Vigil” webcast Sunday night, national radio talk show host, Mike Siegel, who is an attorney, explained that the bill violates a basic legal concept of “breadth.”

PROCEDURAL ARROGANCE
Once again, the Senate leadership is ignoring its own rules.

It’s complex, but the net effect is that Sen. Harry Reid inserted language into the health care legislation changing the Senate rules so that internally the Senate must have two-thirds of the Senate in agreement to consider any future amendments to Obamacare on the floor.  Oh, the Senate is actually supposed to vote on rules changes.

"The majority leader (Reid) must begin the procedural steps necessary to finish the bill by Christmas Eve. The current timeline would have the Senate taking a series of votes: at 1 a.m. Monday, 7 a.m. Tuesday, 1 p.m. Wednesday and 7 p.m. Christmas Eve."

There are still some holdouts. Backroom deals, blandishments, and arm-twisting are in high gear.

Constituents can’t get appointments, and voice mail is full.

Some Republicans are using every parliamentary rule still available, such as forcing the clerk to read the bill aloud.

The fix is supposed to be in. But faxes are possibly still getting through.

Here is the message we are faxing to Senators—and to Representatives since if the Senate bill passes, Pelosi may bring it up for immediate vote in the House—no conference committee.

Fax the letter to your Senator and Representative, with a brief cover letter on your stationery. 

  • To Republicans, ask them to hold firm and to thank Sen. Coburn and Sen. DeMint for forcing a reading of the bill.
  • To Democrats, ask them to vote NO for cloture and NO on the bill if it comes to a vote. And ask them to urge Sen. Reid to withdraw this very bad bill.
  • If desired, add a note on what you think is the worst provision. 

Also fax or email the letter to talk show hosts, reporters, and editors, with a personal note.

We must not give up!

Some "holdouts" are being targeted for special attention, but there may be some wild cards we don’t know about—who care about the future of our country, as well as their own.
