AAPS, this evening, is faxing all members of Congress with the message below.
If you have the capacity to fax, please send a similar message or a message of your own before the vote scheduled for Sunday, March 21st sometime after 1:00 pm Eastern.

A list of targeted Congressmen with their DC phone and fax numbers are listed at the bottom of this message. The pro-life Democrats listed below should be reminded that the Senate bill will result in the largest expansion of abortion services since Roe v. Wade. Any promised executive order fix cannot override this problem in the Senate Bill.

Congress is open and staffed to answer calls and read faxes all weekend, so keep up the pressure - victory is within reach!

To Kill the Healthcare Bill...
Before it Kills Medicine in America

You have no doubt received a letter of endorsement from AMA president Rohack: the letter that will end the AMA’s pretense of speaking for American physicians.

A coalition of state and specialty medical societies representing half a million practicing physicians, far more than the AMA does, has arisen to counter AMA support for this monstrous bill. We add our voice to theirs.

On behalf of our thousands of physician members in all specialties nationwide, and the millions of patients we serve, we urge you to vote NO on the Senate bill.

It forces Americans into expensive health plans that they don’t want.

It destroys economical true insurance policies that Americans DO want.

It imposes a massive, unaccountable bureaucracy between patients and their physicians.

It piles yet another entitlement on the already unsustainable entitlements of Medicare and Medicaid. The costs of these programs were massively underestimated by government actuaries. The CBO’s fanciful assertion that this one will stay under $1 trillion totally lacks credibility—even if the program somehow did manage to bleed one-half trillion dollars from Medicare.

It will compel Americans to pay for abortions.

It will drive up to half of America’s physicians out of practice.

The casualties from this bill will include: jobs, medical innovation, patient privacy, ready access to excellent medical services, financial security for millions who worked and saved, the right of conscience, and the credit rating of the United States.

In return Americans get hollow noble-sounding promises that cannot possibly be kept.

The more Americans learn about what the bill really does, in stark contrast to what it is supposed to achieve, the more strongly they oppose it. Listen to their voices. Vote NO.

In the midst of our current battle against the looming government-takeover of one-sixth of the U.S. economy, I would like to take a few moments to recall an inspiring story from my days fighting against the feminists' Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). Unlike our present battle, all "the powers that be" were against us back then - both houses of Congress, three Presidents (Nixon, Ford, and Carter), all of the First Ladies, all the Hollywood celebrities, 99% of the media, and even a large percentage of the American public.

The day of the most crucial vote on ERA in the Illinois Legislature was very dramatic. We had done all we could to line up the votes, but we knew we were two votes short. As the votes lighted up on the electronic board, we all held our breath in anxiety. Then, a great shout went up from the gallery - "We won!"

ABC put then-president of the National Organization for Women (NOW) Eleanor Smeal in front of a news camera and asked her, "What happened?!" She replied, "Something very powerful was against us, and I don't mean people."

Eleanor Smeal didn't know what it was, but we did. We knew that we had the truth on our side and that the good Lord had brought us the votes from the two Chicago legislators who had never voted with us before.

And so, in the remaining days and hours before the most crucial vote the U.S. Congress will ever cast, I ask you to pray that Our Lord intercedes in this battle for the future of our nation and that the truth, once again, prevails.

The President is speaking to the House making a final push to pass his dangerous health care reform bill.

It is urgent that we make every effort to push back.

The people spoke up and told the Democrats that "Deem and Pass" was unacceptable. They now must hear that the whole 2000+ page bill is unacceptable and that Americans across the country do not want it.

Yesterday 40 groups from across the political spectrum voiced their opposition to one of the worst parts of the bill, the individual mandate to purchase insurance at threat of prosecution and fines. In fact the the bill would allow the IRS to enforce these and many other new provisions. The IRS could have to hire more than 16,000 additional agents, auditors and other workers just to enforce all the new taxes and penalties,” said Ways and Means Ranking Member Dave Camp (R-MI) which could cost an additional $10 billion this decade.

A deal between Nancy Pelosi and the Pro-Life Rep. Bart Stupak fell through earlier today amid talk of a possible walk-out by opponents of the deal.   Pro-Life Democrat House members must continue to hear that the Senate Bill will not prevent federally funded abortions.

“Reconciliation” bill out & House Democrats in Disarray. Help Keep Them That Way!

House Democrats "are in disarray" according to Congressman Mike Pence and are still 5-10 "yes" votes short.

They were forced to release an incomplete CBO analysis this morning in their desperate attempt to pass their healthcare bill by Sunday.
President Obama has also canceled his trip to Asia set for Sunday.
The Senate Budget Committee Chairman is openly questioning whether the Senate can pass the House reconciliation bill without any changes.
The Slaughter Solution is seen by some key Democrats as a "poison."
A key Democrat, Michael Arcuri (D-NY), has switched from a "yes" to a "no."
Ways & Means has released a report detailing the "massive expansion of IRS power" under the pending bill.

Your calls to the Capitol are helping to keep this pressure on the Democrats. Keep calling! Yesterday call volumes were at 40,000 calls per hour. Help keep the phone lines full! We cannot let up in our pressure to let Congress know that their plans for government-run medicine are unacceptable. Remind them that they can’t count on the deals they are promised—but they can count on voter wrath in November. Even if you get a busy signal keep trying.

Also citizens are gathering again in DC on Saturday for another "Code Red Rally" to kill the bill.

The 154 page House "Reconciliation Bill has also been released.

The big difference that needs to be reconciled—abortion funding—is absent. Apparently, the Speaker is just telling pro-life Democrats that they lost, tough, just vote for it anyway.

Instead, the 154 pages contains a lot about cellulosic biofuels, student loans, more taxes, more subsidies, more temporary federal funding for permanently increased state obligations, and more rules that you’ll need a tax accountant and tax lawyer to figure out. But don’t make any plans for your business, because things could change.

It looks as though Sen. Ben Nelson got betrayed; Nebraska no longer gets a permanent exemption from increased Medicaid obligations, and other states get some relief, with the amount based on whether they are “expansion” states or “non-expansion” states. (A two-tiered subsidy system?) Of course, Sen. Nelson can’t change his vote at this point.

Politico has posted a summary with at least 51 comments.

The most revealing is probably this:
“Ignore the naysayers posting here! Is this a perfect bill? No! Is it a start? Yes! Why? Once government gets its foot in the door of regulating the health insurance industry you will never get them out of it. It will grow, and grow and grow. Eventually, it will become single-payer which is what I want. Period. I don't give a damn how many deals have to be made, etc. Just pass a healthcare bill and it's over with. We're on our way to joining the rest of the civilized world when it comes to how we pay for healthcare. YAY!”

In other words, the goal is to pass something, anything, and it will become single payer, once the private sector is destroyed. Maybe that’s why Sen. Kucinich saw the light while riding on Air Force One with Obama.

Unfortunately, the Democrats defeated, 222-203, the effort to force separate vote on Senate Bill.

Speaker Pelosi, President Obama, and Harry Reid have seemingly forgotten the forceful rejection in Massachusetts of their radical agenda. They are now using every strong arm tactic in their playbook, and even inventing some new ones, to push through healthcare "reform" against the wishes of the American people.

Stop Speaker Pelosi From Getting 216 Votes

Nancy Pelosi needs 216 "Yes" votes to pass the Senate's healthcare reform bill in the House. As long as the House Republicans stand united, 38 Democrat "No" votes will be needed to defeat the bill. President Obama has asked the House to vote by Thursday, March 18th. The WSJ takes a detailed look at the math behind the possible upcoming vote, as does FireDogLake.

Targeted House Members:

1) According to Representative Tom Price, M.D., the Democrats that need to be targeted are the 37 Democrats who voted "No" last year and 31 others who voted "Yes" but are still considered undecided or are particularly vulnerable this time around. Dr. Price recommends visiting http://www.nrcc.org/CodeRed/targets/ for a list of these targeted members including links to obtain their contact information.
Tell them to "VOTE NO."
(39 Democrats voted "No" last year, however Rep. Massa has resigned and Rep. Griffith changed parties and is now a Republican.)

2) The Hill has published a list (CLICK HERE TO VIEW) of 24 Democrats who are a "Firm No, Leaning No, or Likely No" and 80 who are "Undecided." Please thank the "No" votes for making the right decision and tell the undecideds to do the right thing and "vote NO."

Senate bill cannot be fixed if House votes for it

Any House member who votes for the Senate bill, based on promises of later “fixes,” is virtually certain to be voting for federal funding of abortion.

American Catholic bishops are being kept at the negotiating table with pledges to enact abortion protections as separate legislation amending the Senate bill after it is passed. A vote for the Senate bill now, they say, is just a way “to keep the process moving.”

The pledges, however, are written in disappearing ink, if written at all. Abortion provisions are not likely to pass muster as budget measures, and hence can’t be passed with a mere 51 votes as part of reconciliation. The Senate does not have 60 pro-life votes to stop a filibuster against anti-abortion legislation.

The National Right to Life Committee issued a strong statement saying that:

When all of the pro-abortion provisions are considered in total, the Senate bill is the most pro-abortion single piece of legislation that has ever come to the House floor for a vote, since Roe v. Wade. Any House member who votes for the Senate health bill is casting a career-defining pro-abortion vote. A House member who votes for the Senate bill would forfeit a plausible claim to pro-life credentials. No House member who votes for the Senate bill will be regarded, in the future, as having a record against federal funding of abortion . . .

Given these political realities, all House members who vote for the Senate bill would become accessories to the sin of abortion, according to Catholic theology. Or they would become enablers, according to medical/psychologic terminology.

Chicago-style politics is in high gear to accomplish Obama’s goals. Methods include promising Members a safe harbor if they get voted out of office. Or there are threats, such as an “ethics” investigation for “verbally abusing” a staff member, say by raising one’s voice or saying a bad word. Other promises mentioned in the blogosphere include making a pesky FBI investigation go away, or getting a favorable real estate deal, or landing a federal judgeship for a family member.

Those are the types of promises that today’s Leaders can be trusted to keep.

Update: While the Wall Street Journal is reporting today that Senator McCain has withdrawn his support from S. 3002, it is still important to keep the pressure on the Senate to make sure they do not pass this bill.
